About the Wines

  • 2012 Chardonnay Sonoma CountyOpen or Close

This wine was made from grapes grown in the acclaimed Carneros Region of Sonoma County just north of San Francisco Bay, where early fog and warm days with cool afternoon winds enable the chardonnay grapes to ripen slowly.  The cool weather and nutrient rich clay soils produced this marvelous Chardonnay - showing a even balance of acids and sugars, great depth of color, and beautiful aromatics.

This chardonnay first smells of lemon blossoms and roasted almonds.  As the wine begins to warm up in the glass, tropical fruit flavors and toasted marshmallow aromas emerge.  The bright, concentrated citrus, pear, green apple and nectarine flavors, with just a touch of oak to add richness to the palate, is well balanced with a crisp, firm backbone.  The wine lingers on the palate creamy and supple, and has the structure and acidity to provide for good longevity.

  • 2012 Pinot Noir Sonoma CountyOpen or Close

Hillside vineyards in the renowned Russian River Valley of Sonoma County are moderated by the regular intrusion of cooling fog from the Pacific Ocean a few miles to the west, flowing through the Petaluma Wind Gap.  During the growing season the fog arrives in the evening and can drop the temperature as much as 40 degrees from its daytime high.  The fog retreats the following morning as the sun rises.  This ideal Pinot Noir climate allows the grapes to develop full flavor maturity over an extended growing season while still retaining natural acidity.

Cranberry strudel, fresh plum and roasted portabella aromas define this classic Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.  Flavors of blueberries, raspberries, and sarsaparilla dominate the palate and finish with just a hint of blackberry pie.   Ample tannins are soft and silky, rich and supple on your palate.

  • 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma CountyOpen or Close

This big and bold wine comes from grapes grown on the warm hills of Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County.  The hillside vineyard with well drained soils allow for maximum exposure to the sun and optimum balance between moisture and soil nutrients.  This combination of location, soil and sunlight builds beautiful and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon with deep color and bright, concentrated flavors.

As you pour the wine into the glass, aromas of blackberries, cassis, and fresh-cut cedar arise.  This nose is a promising harbinger of the classic flavors that follow - dried cranberries, plums and blueberry scones.  Aging in French Oak barrels and youthful tannins provide structure, while adding flavors of toasted almonds and roasted coffee.
